International Taekwon-do Federation (ITF) President, Grand Master Trân Trieu Quan was in Haiti on business at the time of the devastating earthquake that hit the island nation and claimed over 200,000 lives. Grand Master Trân, an engineer and CEO of an engineering consultancy, was in Port au Prince to work on a project designed to help the Haitian government develop building standards, to keep them safe in an earthquake, for instance. The Grandmaster was last seen going to his room, No. 306 at the Hotel Montana a few minutes before the quake struck. Much of the hotel was destroyed in the quake. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Grand Master’s family; his wife Mrs My Nguyen Tran, daughters Joliette (6th Dan) and Cécilia (4th Dan) and his son Nicolas (4th Dan).
